Zach left this world all too soon. He was an active, fun loving spirit who wanted only for everyone around him to be happy. He always had a smile on his face that exuded friendship and loyalty. He had a contagious laugh and always had a way of making a person feel good about him or herself. Zach was a kind man, always generous with so much compassion for kids. He was born on May 6, 1981. As a child, Zach was quiet, sweet, yet funny, and always making people laugh. He grew up having a love for camping, and the outdoors with his family. He had a great love and respect for his country and admired the Native American heritage.
Zach learned to play Ice Hockey as a young boy, and soon found he loved Goal Tending. He attended several Goal Tending camps as far away as Toronto Canada and Chicago Illinois. He continued to play Ice Hockey through his adult life.
Zach made his parents very proud of the man he grew to be. The person Zach was never changed… His compassion for life, family and friends remained important to him. He became a Carpenter and was proud to be a member of the Worcester Local 107 Carpenter’s Union. He brought his personality and respect for life through to his colleagues. His work ethic was impeccable, which brought him respect from young and old.
Many refer to Zach as a Kindred Spirit. If you met him, you loved him. In his adult life, Zach continued to camp and enjoy nature. He and his friends would camp/tent often for vacation and eventually, together with his Fiancée, Kelly Basilio, bought a camper preparing for a future of camping with their own family someday. Zachary enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Zach and Kelly spent a lot of time camping in the North Conway /Saco lakes region. They would take his nieces and nephews with them often, to show them how to camp, play with no TV or video games around and to have fun with each other.
Zach enjoyed kayaking and fishing and living life one day at a time. Zachary had a love for life that everyone should take a lesson from. He always thought being angry was such a waste of time and brought so much joy to the people around him.
Zachary had Asthma and unfortunately died fighting for breath on a beautiful pond in Princeton, MA. We hope that his spirit will live on not only on Paradise Pond, but anywhere people are trying to live a little more for today, being a little less hurried and maybe saying something nice to someone instead of nothing at all.
There are many qualities Zach possessed, and all bring a sense of peace to his family when we think of what Zach brought to each and every one of us. It is what makes for a happy life. A fun loving, kind life, which is all he ever wanted for people.
So, it is with heavy hearts, that we will work to carry on his care for children, generosity, love for hockey and desire to teach all kids to have fun and play.
